SALT LAKE CITY – The Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks are interested in signing former Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.

The NFL insider reported Dallas and Seattle’s interest in the All-Pro linebacker on Monday, March 13, the opening day of the league’s free agent negotiating period. NFL free agency officially begins on Wednesday, March 15.

Werder said that the Cowboys have reached out to Wagner to express their interest and that Seahawks are intrigued in a reunion with the linebacker.

“The #Cowboys have contacted LB Bobby Wagner about their interest in signing him for the second time in as many years,” Werder posted on Twitter. “Seahawks interested too. Source tells me Wagner decision not imminent as both seek to determine his current value.”

Earlier in 2023, the former USU standout received his ninth career AP All-Pro honor.

Wagner has been named to the All-Pro first team six times and three times to the second team during his 11-year NFL career.

In 2022, Wagner recorded 140 total tackles, 81 solo tackles, six sacks, two interceptions, and five pass breakups.

About Bobby Wagner

After a college career at Utah State, the Southern California native was selected by the Seahawks during the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Wagner helped Seattle win Super Bowl XLVIII in 2013.

Last season, Wagner recorded 170 total tackles, 93 solo tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one interception, and five pass breakups. The former USU standout was selected to his eighth consecutive Pro Bowl in 2021.

After spending the first 10 seasons of his career with the Seahawks, Wagner joined Seattle’s NFC West rival on March 31, 2022. The six-time All-Pro player was released by the Seahawks on March 8, 2022.

Following one season in Los Angeles, Wagner and the Rams “mutually agreed” to part ways in February.

During his NFL career, the former USU standout had recorded 1,523 total tackles, 900 solo tackles, 29.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries, 13 interceptions, 65 pass breakups, and a touchdown in 168 career games.
