Shorthanded Jazz Fall To Dallas Mavericks

SALT LAKE CITY – The shorthanded Utah Jazz dropped their fourth straight game falling to the Dallas Mavericks 120-116
The Jazz were without Walker Kessler, Collin Sexton, and Jordan Clarkson, but kept the game close thanks to 33 points from Lauri Markkanen.
The Mavericks were led by Kyrie Irving who had 31 in the win.
First Quarter
Markkanen got off to a quick start in Dallas scoring seven first quarter points as the Jazz jumped out to a 14-6 lead.
The Mavericks answered back with strong shooting from Luka Doncic and Tim Hardaway Jr. who combined for five first quarter threes.

Rudy Gay scored eight points to lead the Jazz while Doncic finished the quarter with 12.
After one the Jazz trailed Dallas 34-31.
Second Quarter
The Mavericks opened the second quarter on an 11-2 run to take a 45-33 lead.
The Jazz answered with a 20-6 later in the quarter and tied the game at 57 with one minute left in the half.

Markkanen upped his total to 19 while Doncic led the Mavericks with 18.
At the half, the Jazz and Dallas were tied at 59.
Third Quarter
The Mavericks rebuilt their lead to eight, 76-68 midway through the third quarter.
The Jazz answered with strong play from Kris Dunn who had 11 points, six rebounds, and five assists through the first three quarters of the game.

Markkanen scored 26 points to lead the Jazz while Doncic upped his total to 29.
After three the Jazz trailed the Mavericks 87-86.
Fourth Quarter
The two teams exchanged baskets to open the fourth quarter as the two teams were tied at 104 with 5:30 left to play.
The Dallas defense ratcheted up late in the fourth allowing Doncic and Kyrie Irving’s offense to create a little breathing room.

Markkanen finished with 33 to lead the Jazz while Irving matched the total to lead Dallas.
The Jazz fell to the Mavericks 119-116.
