NFL Scouting Combine: Puka Nacua Names Teams That Interviews ‘Went Really Well’ With

Mar 3, 2023, 4:55 PM | Updated: 5:11 pm

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU Cougars wide receiver Puka Nacua highlighted the names of two teams that he’s spoken with and the interviews “went really well” during the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine.

The Combine takes place from February 27-March 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

During his media session on Friday, March 3, the former BYU standout listed off a pair of franchises that he believes he interviewed “really well with.”

The reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs were the first team named by Nacua. “My Chiefs meeting has gone really well,” the former BYU star said. “The [Baltimore] Ravens went really well. Hopefully Chiefs, Andy Chiefs is a BYU guy. So there’s always a plug there, but most of my interviews have gone really well but those are the two that stuck out to me.”

During his time with reporters, Nacua also talked about his love for the position he play. The former Orem High standout discussed the one-on-one matchup with opposing defensive backs.

Cornerbacks are often discussed as playing “on an island” by themselves.

Nacua said that as a receiver he’s on an island as well. “I believe that you’re on my island,” Nacua said of the matchup with DBs. “I get a chance to get you one-on-one and there’s no help coming for you, it’s me and you. So it’s a real man-on-man test, put your skills to the test, and that’s what I love about that.”

Nacua and the rest of the wideouts at the Combine will participate in on-field drills on Saturday, March 4 beginning at 11 a.m. (MDT). Coverage will be televised on NFL Network.

Combine results for Nacua will be available here.
