Former Orem High Star Discusses Possibility Of Playing With Big Brother In Detroit

Mar 2, 2023, 11:22 AM

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Orem High standout Noah Sewell discussed the possibility of teaming up with his big brother, Penei, at the next level with the Detroit Lions.

Sewell talked about his chances of landing with the Lions during a media session at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine.

“If I get to play with my brother, it would be truly a blessing,” the NFL Draft prospect said of possibly getting selected by the Lions. “You’ve never heard really two brothers on the same team at once but yeah it would be a blessing.”

The former Tiger and Oregon Ducks linebacker will look to follow in the footsteps of his brothers, Gabe, Nephi, and Penei, who all play professional football. Penei (Lions) and Nephi (New Orleans Saints) both play in the NFL. Gabe is a member of the USFL’s Philadelphia Stars.

Penei was selected by the Lions with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Since then, he’s become one of the league’s premier offensive linemen.

Sewell declared for the NFL Draft in December 2022. He is currently in Indianapolis, Indiana to participate in the league’s Combine.

About Noah Sewell

After a standout high school career at Orem, Sewell followed in Penei to the University of Oregon.

Sewell played for the Ducks from 2020-22.

After his first season in Eugene, the linebacker earned Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors. In 2021, Sewell was first-team All-Pac-12.

As a sophomore in 2022, Sewell was a member of the conference’s second team.

Last season, Sewell had 55 total tackles, 24 solo tackles, three pass breakups, 1.5 sacks, and an interception. During his three seasons at Oregon, he recorded 213 total tackles, 102 solo tackles, eight pass breakups, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions.
