Real Salt Lake Depending On Home Grown Players In 2023 Season
SALT LAKE CITY – An offseason of planning, speculation and inevitable change has Real Salt Lake on the verge of opening the 2023 season.
With a new radio partnership in tow, RSL President John Kimball joined KSL Sports Zone’s Hans & Scotty G on Thursday, February 23 to talk about the upcoming season.
Real Salt Lake his made the playoffs four out of the past five season and look to build on a first time franchise achievement from 2022. For the first time, Rio Tinto Stadium was sold out for every game.

Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni will likely rely heavily on talent grown through the Real Academy, which opened in 2018.

“One of the coolest things about our team is that we have a lot of homegrown players,” Kimball said.
“Justin Glad, who’s one of the best defenders in the whole country. Justin Meram is one of my favorite personalities on the team. Our goalie, Zac MacMath. They’re just great human beings and we want our community to get to know them and support them.

2023 RSL Season Opener
The Claret & Cobalt are set to kickoff their 19th season in MLS north of the border against the Western Conference rival Vancouver White Caps on Saturday, February 25. This match is set to begin at 8:30 p.m. (MT).
