Utah State’s Max Shulga Takes Home Mountain West Honor

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State basketball’s Max Shulga was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for his efforts in two USU wins.
The Mountain West announced the honor on Monday, February 20.

A junior out of Kyiv, Ukraine, Shulga had perhaps his best game of the season in an 80-65 win over Air Force. Playing 37 minutes, Shulga matched a career-high by making five threes on his way to a career-best 29 points on just 16 shots. Not a one trick pony, Shulga added seven rebounds and three assists in the win.

Four days later, Shulga notched his fourth double-double of the season. Finishing with 13 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes, Shulga played a critical role in helping the Aggies overcome a 21-point first half deficit against Nevada in the 75-66 victory.
Shulga finished the week averaging 21 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a pair of Aggie wins. He shot 46.4 percent (13-of-28) from the field, 50.0 percent (7-of-14) from 3-point range and 81.8 percent (9-of-11) at the free throw line.

Shulga is a junior for the Utah State men’s basketball program. He’s played for the Aggies since 2020.
During his three seasons with USU, the guard has played in 83 games. This season, Shulga is averaging 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, four assists per game.
