Sergio Córdova with RSL
During his time at Real Salt Lake, Córdova won the 2022 Golden Boot following a season with 11 goals in 34 matches. Córdova enjoyed his loan spell in Major League Soccer where he was clearly one of the most talented and gifted players on the pitch at any given time.
Córdova partnered with Bobby Wood to begin the season where the two quickly showcased their ability to dissect and punish opposing backlines. However, Wood struggled to remain healthy and was booked into midseason abductor surgery that concluded his season. Despite the loss, Córdova continued to hunt for more goals and soon found another partner at the point of the attack in fellow countrymen Jefferson Savarino.
Córdova struggled with his confidence while at Real Salt Lake. It was evident throughout the season. His body language was an indicator to how he was feeling, as is so often the case with most players. During spells of poor form, Córdova did not shy away from dropping his head.

Regardless, the season loan for Córdova at Real Salt Lake was a success. The 6’2″ target man proved to be a serious threat in front of goal for Real Salt Lake.
