SALT LAKE CITY – NFL agent David Canter announced that former BYU defensive back and recent Super Bowl champion Zayne Anderson has signed with the Buffalo Bills.

Canter shared the news via his Twitter account on Friday, February 17.

“Congratulations to @gsefootball client @zayneanderson23 on signing with @BuffaloBills,” Canter tweeted.

Later, the Bills confirmed Anderson had signed a two-year contract.

Less than a week before joining the Bills, Anderson was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. In addition to Anderson, five other players and coaches helped the Chiefs win their second title in four seasons.

The Chiefs finished the regular season with a 14-3 record before beating the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals, and Eagles in the playoffs.

Anderson was a member of Kansas City’s practice squad. Former BYU tight end Matt Bushman was also a member of the practice squad.

During the 2021 season, Anderson played in four games for the Chiefs. He recorded on tackle.

About Zayne Anderson

The newest Bill was originally a three-star recruit in the class of 2015 out of Stansbury Park, Utah.

Anderson played in 50 games during his BYU career, recording 162 tackles, three interceptions, and six pass breakups.

In 2017, Anderson switched from safety to linebacker and remained there till week two of the 2019 season. During an upset win over No. 6 Wisconsin in 2018, Anderson had 11 tackles. Two weeks later, he suffered a season-ending injury.

In 2019, Anderson battled a shoulder injury limiting him to only two games played.

Heading into his senior year in 2020, Anderson dabbled at cornerback during spring practices, before returning to his natural position at safety.

Anderson played in 11 games in 2020, recording 41 tackles.
