Portland State Vikings Against NAU
Heading into the game, both teams had negative records. The Vikings were 10-15 and the Lumberjacks were 7-19.
The outcome of the game was never going to make any massive seeding changes. But, PSU is only 2 games back from the fourth seed in the Big Sky. So, the win was much needed for the Vikings.
The game was very close in the first half. The teams traded baskets in the first ten minutes and the score was 43-39 at the half.
Portland State took off in the second half. They opened a lead as big as 12 over the Lumberjacks.
In the final 5 minutes of the game, Northern Arizona pushed back. They went on a huge run to close the gap and eventually take the lead on a three-point shot. The last time they held a lead was with 7:30 left in the first half.
When there is anything less than a half-second left on the clock, a normal jumpshot typically gets waved off. PSU threw up the alley-oop prayer and it was answered. Portland State wins, 88-87.
Cameron Parker was the leading scorer for the Portland State Vikings. He put up 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists on 7/12 shooting.
