Ken Niumatalolo To Speak At BYU Football Coaches Clinic

PROVO, UtahΒ – Ken Niumatalolo will be paying a visit to BYU football during spring practices.
The winningest coach in Navy Football history will be speaking at BYU’s Coaches Clinic on March 23. It’s a clinic dedicated to high school football coaches.

Last year, BYU had Kansas City Chiefs head coach and BYU alum Andy Reid speak to the coaches.
Ken Niumatalolo was the winningest coach in Navy history
Niumatalolo is in his first off-season since 2006, where he isn’t leading the Navy football program. After the Midshipmen’s 2022 season concluded with a hard-fought loss to rival Army, Niumatalolo, who compiled 109 wins in his 16 seasons as Navy’s head coach, was fired immediately after the game.
Many in the college football world were shocked by the way Navy fired one of the more beloved and liked coaches in the sport.
Unique ties to BYU

Niumatalolo, despite never working or playing for BYU, has ties to the program. For starters, he’s a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Niumatalolo was called to be the stake president in Annapolis, Maryland, for the Church in 2019.
In 2014, Niumatalolo and his family were featured in the film “Meet the Mormons.”
Being a devout member of the Church, Niumatalolo was one of the top targets in BYU’s head coach search in 2015 after Bronco Mendenhall left for Virginia. During that search, BYU eventually hired the current head coach, Kalani Sitake.
Niumatalolo’s son, Va’a, was a linebacker for the BYU football from 2014-17.
Then in 2020, after Navy’s trip overseas to face rival Notre Dame in Ireland was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Niumatalolo scheduled BYU to play in Annapolis. BYU won the Labor Day game, 55-3, when many wondered if football would be played that season.
2023 BYU Coaches Clinic
BYU’s 2023 coaches clinic will be held at the Student Athletic Building on campus. The clinic runs from 8 a.m. to noon. High school coaches can register at byusportscamps.com.
