Utah Football Gearing Up For Spring Ball With Release Of Media Schedule
SALT LAKE CITY – In reality, it hasn’t been that long since the Utes played their last football game, but we’re already ready for more. Utah football released their Spring Ball media schedule this evening as they start gearing up for another big season for the program in 2023.
The Utes will officially kick things off on Tuesday, March 21 and will wrap things up on Saturday, April 22 with their annual Red and White Game which has been renamed the “22 Forever Game.”
Pro Day will take place on Thursday, March 23 and Utah’s annual Coaches Clinic will take place that Saturday, March 25 with keynote speaker Teddy Atlas.
Spring practices and Pro Day are closed to the public while being open to media on select days for interviews and/or a brief 20-minute viewing period.
Spring Ball Captains, Leadership Council
The Utes previously announced their captains and leadership council for spring practices.

Unsurprisingly, returning star quarterback Cam Rising and star tight end Brant Kuithe got the nod on offense, though Rising will not be participating in physical spring practices while recovering from ACL surgery. On the defense, rising star safety Cole Bishop and linebacker Karene Reid received the honors. The four-man group consists of two sixth-year seniors and two juniors.
Much like the spring captains, the spring leadership council is filled with a who’s who of Utah football mainstays including running back Ja’Quinden Jackson, backup quarterback Bryson Barnes, returning tight end Thomas Yassmin, returning wide receiver Devaughn Vele and linebacker Lander Barton.
Perhaps the most interesting name on the spring ball leadership council is returned missionary and safety Nate Ritchie. Ritchie has only been back with the team a short amount of time so the fact his teammates and coaches already respect him and his leadership is a very positive development for 2023.
Important Dates Inside And Outside Of Spring To Watch For Information
The first week of Spring Ball will feature four media availability days spanning from March 21 when it opens to March 24. The following week will move to every other day media availability until the last week starting on April 18 which will feature a five-day media availability week leading up to the “22 Forever Game” on April 22.
Offensive and defensive coaches will have four media availabilities on March 22, March 24, April 19, and April 21. Head coach Kyle Whittingham will be available to the media every Tuesday of Spring Ball.
Utah football will also be hosting a round of camps through the summer months that fans can sign up for. Perhaps the most exciting development is the return of the Women’s Clinic that was a staple back in the aughts toward the Utes’ last few years in the Mountain West Conference.
