Hawks Shock Jazz Early, Win In Utah
SALT LAKE CITY – The Atlanta Hawks jumped on the Utah Jazz early in the first quarter and never relented in a near wire-to-wire 115-108 win.
The Jazz scored the opening basket off the game but never regained the lead as the Hawks stingy defense made it difficult fo find easy baskets.
Lauri Markkanen scored 25 points to lead the Jazz while Trae Young led the Hawks with 26 in the win.
First Quarter
The Hawks climbed out to an early 14-3 start as the Jazz missed their first seven three-point attempts of the game.
Collin Sexton gave the Jazz a boost off the bench scoring eight first quarter points but the team’s defense struggled to stop the Hawks up-tempo attack.

Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with nine points while John Collins added 10 for the Hawks
After one the Jazz trailed Atlanta 32-22.
Second Quarter
The Hawks lead climbed to 15, 42-27 as they continued to beat the Jazz in transition off of made baskets.
After Wednesday’s strong showing, Walker Kessler struggled in the first half going scoreless, with two fouls and a turnover.

The Hawks built their lead to 22 at 60-38 late in the quarter as the Jazz connected on just 4-19 from the three-point line.
Over the final 3:45 of the half the Jazz outscored Atlanta 12-2, and cut their deficit to 12, 62-50.
Third Quarter
The Hawks defense prevented the Jazz from getting into their offensive sets, relying mostly on isolation attacks to score. As a result, the Jazz had just 13 assists through the first three quarters.
The Jazz trimmed the Hawks lead to eight in the final minutes of the quarter, but Bogdan Bogdanovic responded with back-to-back threes to extend the lead back to 14.

Young upped his total to 23 while Markkanen had 17 to lead the Jazz.
After three the Jazz trail Atlanta 91-78.
Fourth Quarter
The Hawks opened the fourth quarter by building their lead to 15 three minutes into the frame.
A 10-0 run cut the Jazz deficit to five with just over three minutes left to play, and as low as four in the final minute, but were unable to complete the comeback.
Markkanen led the Jazz with 25 points and 10 rebounds extending his streak of 20-point games to 20.
The Jazz fell to the Hawks 115-108 in Utah.
