SALT LAKE CITY – The Super Bowl provides a chance for goof NFL players to make the leap to great. This Sunday Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be playing in his third Super Bowl and looking for his second NFL title.
Mahomes has already made a case for being one of the best quarterbacks of his generation at 27-years-old. He has made so many infamous throws, including plenty of no-look passes.

Mahomes has already done things no other quarterback has done with his footwork and the way he see’s the field that makes him unlike any other QB in the league.
Plus, he wins a lot of games. He is 64-16 as a starter with a 10-3 playoff record with all three losses either coming in the Super Bowl or AFC championship game.
Unrivaled’s Scott Mitchell and Alex Kirry differ on the potential all-time greatness of Mahomes.
“As soon as Patrick Mahomes wins his second Super Bowl,” Kirry said. “Then we are talking about a guy who probably enters the discussion as a top-five quarterback all-time.”

Mitchell disagrees a bit. His difference is that Mahomes won’t yet be a top-five quarterback if he wins another Super Bowl. That could change by the end of his career but there are a lot of variables Mitchell considered.
“What does he do with a ton of time?” Mitchell asked. “What happens when Andy Reid retires, and he gets a bad coach in there?”
Putting Mahomes on a list with the likes of Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, John Kelly, John Elway, Johnny Unitas, Peyton Manning, and others is a big accomplishment after playing in only 81 games.
Two Super Bowl wins will help his cause but to be considered one of the greats will likely take more time performing at high levels.
Super Bowl wins are huge but not the only requirement to be an all-timer. Kelly went to multiple Super Bowls but never won the big game and Marino only went in his rookie year and lost. Those two had amazing careers sans championships.
However, if Mahomes keeps up his numbers and wins multiple Super Bowls then he is on his way to being one of the best quarterbacks ever.
Both hosts feel he can get there but they differ on when that feat can be accomplished.
