Devin Pancake, Krysthina Vlahovic Take Home Weekly Award For Utah StateTrack & Field

LOGAN, Utah – A pair of Aggie athletes earned Mountain West recognition for their performance and the Mark Colligan Memorial Meet last weekend.
Utah State track & field athletes Devin Pancake and Krysthina Vlahovic were named Mountain West Indoor Athletes of the Week. It was the first award for either athlete.

For Vlahovic, a freshman out of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, she earned the MW Women’s Freshman of the Week honor for her performance in the 60-meter hurdles and 200 meter sprint. Vlahovic finished fifth in the hurdles event with a time of 8.88, first amond all MW freshmen. She placed eighth in the 200 meters, finishing with a time of 8.98.
Pancake, a senior from Springville, UT, was named MW Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week for his performance in the 3,000 meters event. Pancake set a career best, winning the event with a time of 8:09:40. The time puts Pancake fifth in USU program history and was the third fastest time of all MW runners this season.
As a team, Utah State finished with four individual titles and 24 top-five finishes in the meet.
Joining Pancake with individual titles were junior Mattie Geddes, who finished first in the women’s mile. Her time of 4:54:93 was good enough for eighth place in Aggie history. In the men’s pole vault, freshman Logan Hammer cleared a height of 4.77m/15-7.75 to take the title. Hannah Davidson was the other Aggie event winner, finishing with a time of 2:14:89 in the 800 meters.

The UW Invitational, being held in Seattle, is scheduled to begin on Friday at 4 p.m. (MST with the men’s weight throw and high jump events. A full schedule of the weekend’s events can be found here.
In Pocatello at the Stacy Dragila Invitational, the men’s and women’s long jump, weight throws and women’s pole vault will open the event at 10 a.m. (MST) on Saturday. A full schedule of the weekend’s events can be found here.
