SALT LAKE CITY – With the NBA All-Star weekend landing in Salt Lake City this year, Jazz fans are looking to root for some familiar faces in the festivities.
Lauri Markkanen’s play took a huge jump and he will likely be named an all-star game reserve. Walker Kessler is a lock for the Rising Stars game. Mike Conley plans on competing in the Skills challenge.
That makes up almost every event of the weekend. Well, on Wednesday, the Utah Jazz campaigned for one Jazzman to compete in one more event. Malik Beasley in the 3-point contest.

Malik Beasley, The Sharpshooter
The suggestion by the Jazz is not a longshot by any means. Beasley has been a premier shooter for Utah this season.
Beasley is shooting 36% from deep this season on 8.5 attempts per game. This puts Beasley at 12th in threes made per game in the whole NBA.
Beasley’s 36% from three isn’t one of the best in the league. But, that percentage still puts him ahead of names like Jayson Tatum, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Tim Hardaway Jr.
Beasley has been a great role-player for the Jazz this year. Whether he’s hitting buzzer-beaters, going on hot streaks, or celebrating highlights, Beasley does a lot for a young Utah team.
Despite his name looming in trade rumors, Beasley’s value can’t be overstated. His name in those conversations can be seen as a testament to that. Beasley is a solid defender and a great shooter.

50 games into the season, Malik Beasley is sitting at 153 made 3-point field goals. The Utah Jazz single-season record is 232, set by Donovan Mitchell. Beasley is on pace to beat Mitchell’s record by the end of the season.
