Utah Jazz Struggle With Brooklyn Nets Length, Fall At Home

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz couldn’t stop Kyrie Irving and fell to the Brooklyn Nets 117-106.
Irving put on a dazzling shooting display scoring 48 points on 18-29 shooting including 8-15 from downtown.
The Jazz fell to 24-25 with the loss.
First Quarter
After climbing out to a 5-2 start, the Nets went on a quick 14-0 run to take a 14-5 lead with 7:27 left in the first quarter.
Former Jazzman Royce O’Neale knocked down three first quarter threes for nine points in the opening eight minutes.

The Jazz shot 7-22 from the floor in the first quarter including 2-11 from three. Jordan Clarkson led the team with six points.
After one, the Jazz trailed the Nets 28-22.
Second Quarter
The Jazz used a 14-0 run midway through the second quarter to take their first lead of the game since early in the opening quarter, 38-36, with just over six minutes left in the half.
The shorthanded Nets struggle with their bench, while the Jazz excelled, winning the scoring battle between the second units 23-7.

The Jazz shot 4-8 from the three-point line and outscored the Nets 33-23 in the second quarter.
At the half, the Jazz led the Nets 55-51.
Third Quarter
The Nets used a 7-0 lead early in the third to take a 58-57 lead early in the half, but the Jazz answered with a 5-0 run.
The Jazz struggled with the Nets length and zone defense as Brooklyn built a 78-72 lead late in the third.

The Jazz answered with an 11-3 run on three consecutive made threes late in the quarter to take a lead but went into the fourth tied.
After three, the Jazz and Nets were knotted up at 83.
Fourth Quarter
The Jazz struggled to get stops early in the fourth as the Nets hit six of their first seven shots, led by Kyrie Irving who hit five of six for 12 points.
After the Nets took a 100-94 lead, a Lauri Markkanen three cut the lead to two thanks to a 6-2 run.
The Nets continued to hit shots late in the fourth, led by Irving who finished with 45 points.
The Jazz were led by Clarkson who scored 29, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the Nets 117-106.
