SALT LAKE CITY – It doesn’t happen often in sports, but occasionally a game will be canceled due to excessive injuries which just happened to the Utah women’s basketball game set for Friday night against Arizona State.
The Sun Devils are apparently having a tough time fielding a full team and have had to forfeit not only their game against the Utes, but their game on Sunday against Colorado as well. By Pac-12 rules the forfeits will count as a win for the Utes and Buffaloes. NCAA rules state the forfeits will not hurt Utah or Colorado’s respective record for the season when it comes time to talk about post-season positioning.
No. 14 Arizona Versus No. 10 Utah
With ASU out of the mix, the Utes will have to wait till Sunday for a game this week, playing host to Arizona at the Huntsman Center at noon. Utah Athletics and the team are highly encouraging fans to show up and show out for the Top-15 matchup.
Such a bummer about Friday's contest with ASU, but fans should still support @UTAHWBB on Sunday against No. 14 Arizona…also if you suddenly need Friday plans… @UtahGymnastics is competing at the Best of Utah meet at the Maverik Center!#GoUtes https://t.co/cMc69pPPpI

Taking A Look At Utah Athletics’ Weekend Schedule
Even with the game cancelation, there is still plenty for fans to enjoy this weekend concerning all things Utah Athletics.
There had been a scheduling conflict with women’s basketball and the Red Rocks who are competing in the Rio Tinto Best of Utah meet at the Maverik Center at the same time the basketball game was to be played at the Huntsman Center.
However, now fans can now enjoy both teams over the weekend if they wish, hitting gymnastics on Friday and coming out for women’s basketball on Sunday.
The Runnin’ Utes are also playing this week but are on the road taking on the SoCal schools on Thursday and Saturday.
