Clarkson Goes On Miraculous Run, Jazz Stun Mitchell, Cavaliers

SALT LAKE CITY – Jordan Clarkson went on solo 9-0 run late in the fourth quarter to erase a five point Cavaliers and lead the Utah Jazz to a 116-114 win.
The miraculous run spoiled Donovan Mitchell’s return to Utah despite a terrific 46 point perfromance from the former Jazzman.
Clarkson led the Jazz wth 32 points while Lauri Markkanen added 25 points and 16 rebounds in the victory.
First Quarter
Mitchell got off to a hot start scoring 12 points in his first stint on the floor knocking down three threes and hitting three free throws.
Lauri Markkanen opened the game with six points as eight of the nine players who saw the floor scored.

After trailing 22-16, the Jazz reeled off a 13-0 run to take a 29-22 lead fueled by Rudy Gay’s seven points.
After one the Jazz led Cleveland 31-24.
Second Quarter
Mitchell continued his efficient play in the second quarter bringing his scoring total to 25 points on 6-12 shooting including 9-9 from the free-throw line.
Markkanen struggled some with the defense of his former team, but led the Jazz with 10 points on 4-10 shooting.

The Jazz moved the ball well offensive recording 14 assists on 20 made shots.
At the half, the Jazz and Cavaliers were tied at 55.
Third Quarter
The Jazz opened the half knocking down 6-10 from the floor to build a 72-63 midway through the quarter.
The lead climbed to 13 as the Jazz attacked a vulnerable Cavaliers defensive group.

Cleveland went on a strong run late in the third fueled by Darius Garland who scored seven points and handed out four assists.
After three the Jazz led the Cavaliers 88-84.
Fourth Quarter
Cleveland came out in the fourth quarter running on a shorthanded Jazz defense.
The Cavaliers overtook the Jazz 95-95 with 6:59 left on a Donovan Mitchell layup.

Mitchell scored 10 straight for the Cavaliers in the middle of the quarter to build the Cavaliers lead to seven, 101-94.
With the Jazz trailing by five, Jordan Clarkson hit a three-point shot while drawing a flagrant foul. He converted the free throw, and drew another three-point foul on the ensuing possession for a total of seven straight points.
