PASADENA, Calif. – Utah Utes running back Ja’Quinden Jackson flew past the Penn State defense and into the end zone for a game-tying touchdown before halftime of the 2023 Rose Bowl Game.
The No. 8 Utes and No. 11 Nittany Lions played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on Monday, January 2.

With 2:38 remaining in the first half, the quarterback-turned-running back exploded for 19 yards and into the end zone for six points.
Jackson’s rush tied the game at 14-14.

The run capped a six-play, 75-yard drive that took 2:09.
After the score, Jackson had five carries for 31 yards and a touchdown. Jackson entered the bowl game with 65 carries for 450 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground this season.
During his Utah career, the Dallas, Texas native has run the ball 71 times for 480 yards and nine touchdowns.

After winning its second straight Pac-12 Conference Championship, Utah earned a spot in the Rose Bowl Game in back-to-back seasons.
Last year’s Rose Bowl contest featured the Utes and the Ohio State Buckeyes. After Utah QB Cam Rising went down with an injury in the second half, the Buckeyes came back from down double-digits to capture a 48-45 win.
Before being replaced by Barnes, Rising was 17/22 passing for 214 yards and two touchdowns.
This season, Rising and the Utes look to avenge the loss and pick up their first Rose Bowl Game victory.
Utah enters the game with a 10-3 record this season. Penn State arrived in California with a 10-2 record.
After winning its first five games of the season, the Nittany Lions dropped two of three games in losses to Michigan and Ohio State. Penn State won its final four regular season games.
