LOS ANGELES- Ahead of their big matchup with No. 11 Penn State, No. 8 Utah football announced Sunday evening the “Moment of Loudness” would take place in the 109th Rose Bowl Game. The “Moment of Loudness” has become an integral tradition for the Utes over the past two seasons as a way for the team and fans to honor running back Ty Jordan and cornerback Aaron Lowe who tragically passed away during the 2021 season. The “Moment of Loudness” has recently evolved in the 2022 football season to include all beloved members of the Utah football family who are no longer with us.
The Utes featured the “Moment of Loudness” in last season’s Rose Bowl debut against Ohio State to rave reviews. With plans of doing the same thing, the Utah football Twitter account said the event will take place in the 3rd quarter during the fourth break, or in the 4th quarter during the first break.
The Moment of Loudness is coming to the Rose Bowl!
It will happen either the 4th break of the 3rd quarter or the 1st break of the 4th quarter depending on game action! #22forever ♥️@rosebowlgame@utahathletics https://t.co/I26csPCuW3

Ty Jordan, Aaron Lowe’s Lasting Rose Bowl Legacy
The Rose Bowl isn’t lacking for incredible stories with 109 years’ worth of history behind it. Jordan, Lowe, and Utah football have found a permanent place in the prestigious bowl’s lore due to their incredible story and how it coincided with their first appearance in the bowl game last season.

Before the Utes arrived in Los Angeles, the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation funded two bricks to be laid outside of the Rose Bowl in front of the iconic logo in honor of Jordan and Lowe and what they have meant to the Utes as well as the Rose Bowl itself. Neither player was able to be part of Utah’s first Rose Bowl Game, but both had unwavering belief the Utes would play in the legendary game one day before their shocking deaths.
The Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation also placed Utah football’s helmet they wore in their first Rose Bowl Game in their Rose Bowl Museum over the summer. The white helmet featured Utah’s red interlocking U logo with a red rose tucked between them. The rose had a special detail- the number 22 that both Jordan and Lowe wore in one of the petals.
“Unwavering Belief”
The Utes also released a hype video Sunday evening titled “Unwavering Belief”.

It stems from a quote that quarterback Cam Rising gave just after Utah’s loss to UCLA and again before Utah hosted the USC Trojans in their first matchup in Salt Lake City back in October.

The term has since become a bit of a calling card for the Utes for the 2022 season with the University of Utah also releasing a teaser for a commercial that will air during the Rose Bowl that also features the quote.
