Lions RB Jamaal Williams Runs For 15th Touchdown Of Season Against Bears

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU Cougars and current Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams found paydirt for the 15th time this season during Week 17 against the Chicago Bears.
The Lions hosted the Bears at Ford Field on New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1.
With 11:38 to go in the third quarter, Williams burst up the middle for a two-yard touchdown. It was his 15th rushing score of the season.

Williams’ run helped the Lions take a 31-10 lead.

The touchdown run capped a six-play, 75-yard drive that took 3:22.
After the score, Williams had 11 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. He added one reception for 13 yards.
Williams entered the game against the Bears with 224 carries for 850 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. He’d also recorded 11 receptions for 60 yards.
The Lions entered the contest with a 7-8 record this season, including 4-4 at home.

About Jamaal Williams
Before his time in the NFL, Williams was a star at BYU. He finished his time in Provo as the Cougars’ all-time leading rusher in both career and single-yard yards.
During his time at BYU (2012-14, 2016), Williams ran the ball 726 times for 3,901 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also had 60 receptions for 567 yards and a touchdown. Williams only lost two fumbles during his college career.
Following his time at BYU, the Southern California native was selected by the Green Bay Packers during the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played the first four seasons of his professional career with the Packers before signing with the Lions in 2021.
Before Week 17, Williams had run for 3,436 yards and 27 touchdowns during his six seasons in the league.
