Utah Tech Men’s Basketball Torches Westmont For Fourth Straight Win

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Tech Trailblazers torched the Westmont Warriors for their fourth consecutive victory, extending their longest winning streak of the season.
The Blazers hosted the Warriors at Burns Arena in St. George, Utah on Monday, December 19.
Utah Tech beat Westmont, 80-53.

It was the Trailblazers’ fourth victory of the month.

After the game was tied at 2-2 early in the first half, the Blazers built a massive lead over the visiting squad. Utah Tech quickly jumped ahead by double figures and took a 50-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Following the break, the Trailblazers took their advantage to another level, pushing the lead to 32 points.
Utah Tech finished the night with a 27-point victory.
The Blazers shot 45.0 percent from the floor, including 37.5 percent from three-pointers. Westmont shot 31.4 percent overall and only 13.0 percent from three.
Utah Tech held advantages in rebounding, assists, steals, blocks, and turnovers.
Four Trailblazers reached double-digits in scoring. Cameron Gooden scored a game-high 17 points on 6-11 field goals. He also had three rebounds and four assists.

Jacob Nicolds added 13 points. Noa Gonsalves poured in 11 points. Dancell Leter had 11 points off the bench.
Cade Roth led Westmont with 12 points.
With the win, the Trailblazers improved their record to 7-5 this season, including 4-0 at home.

Utah Tech’s next game is at home against the Lindenwood Lions on Thursday, December 22 at 1 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN+. ESPN Analytics currently gives Utah Tech a 90.1 percent chance of beating Lindenwood.
The Lions own a 5-6 record this season. Before playing Utah Tech, Lindenwood will travel to Provo to play the BYU Cougars. BYU will host Lindenwood on Tuesday, December 20 at 7 p.m. (MDT). That game will be broadcast on KSLSports.com and KSL NewsRadio.
After playing Lindenwood, the Trailblazers will close 2022 with a home game against UT Rio Grande and a road contest at Utah Valley on New Year’s Eve.
