SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU offensive coordinator Robert Anae is reportedly on the move again. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Thursday that the well-traveled Anae is leaving Syracuse for the offensive coordinator job at NC State.
Sources: NC State is hiring Syracuse OC Robert Anae as the school's next offensive coordinator. He replaces Tim Beck.

Anae replaces Tim Beck, who left Raleigh, North Carolina, to take the Coastal Carolina head coach position.
The former National Champion offensive lineman at BYU and nine-year offensive play caller at his alma mater under Bronco Mendenhall, Anae was at Syracuse for one season. During his one year with the Orange, Syracuse was 89th in total offense (365.8 yards) and 67th in scoring offense (28.3 points) per game.
The Cuse jumped out to a 6-0 start that included wins over four bowl-eligible teams, including NC State. But then the wheels started to fall off as Syracuse lost five of its next six in the second half of the season.
Before he was at Syracuse, Anae was at the University of Virginia with former BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall from 2016 to 2021. After Mendenhall abruptly resigned, Anae settled into Dino Babers’ staff at Syracuse.
Anae is the second former BYU offensive coordinator to become an OC at NC State. The other was Norm Chow, who was the offensive play caller for the Wolfpack in 2000. Chow mentored a freshman Philip Rivers.
Robert Anae leaves Syracuse, opening the door for Jason Beck
With Anae reportedly moving to NC State, another former BYU coach is expected to replace Anae at Syracuse. According to reports, former BYU QB and assistant coach Jason Beck is expected to step in as Syracuse’s offensive coordinator.
I can confirm that @CuseFootball QB coach Jason Beck will take over as offensive coordinator at Syracuse for the departing Robert Anae. This appears to be a permanent promotion.

Beck was the quarterback coach at Syracuse this past season. He’s worked alongside Anae every year since 2013 when they were on the same staff at BYU. Beck has only one year of experience as an offensive coordinator. That was at Division II Simon Fraser University in Canada in 2012.
Beck has mentored excellent quarterbacks, from former BYU star Taysom Hill, Kurt Benkert, Bryce Perkins, and Brennan Armstrong.
