SALT LAKE CITY- To say the past few weeks have been a blur for Utah football would be an understatement. Utah has had a slew of local talent opting to stay home and play for them after putting the hurt on USC in the Pac-12 Championship game, four-star cornerback Smith Snowden being the latest addition.

Snowden is a guy the Utes have wanted from the go but has been very quiet about his recruitment until now. The Skyridge product has been a top-priority cornerback recruit for Utah and will now be heading their way.

Taking A Closer Look At Smith Snowden

It’s no secret Utah and position coach Sharrieff Shah put cornerbacks into the league and Snowden has that same potential as the greats before him. At 5’10” and 175 pounds, Snowden is your prototypical cornerback with speed that burns and instincts that kill making him a great addition to Utah’s defensive backfield.

According to 247 Sports, Snowden had a list of whose-who offers, particularly from high academic institutions such as Yale, Stanford, Northwestern and Pennsylvania.

Snowden possesses great speed having run track in high school posting a 10.47 100-meter and 21.89 200-meter times.

Early Signing Period Approaches

The early signing period is rapidly approaching for football, opening on December 21 and closing on December 23. The “traditional” signing period for the 2023 class will fall on Wednesday, February 1 but has become less dramatic over the years due to most prospects signing in December.

The Utes currently have 21 hard commits counting the addition of Smith Snowden along with fellow recent commits Hunter Clegg, Levani Damuni, Logan Fano and Spencer Fano.
