Saints TE Taysom Hill Makes NFL History On Monday Night Football

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU Cougars and current New Orleans Saints standout Taysom Hill hauled in his second touchdown catch of the season and made NFL history against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.
The Buccaneers hosted the Saints at Raymond James Stadium on Monday, December 5.
With 7:33 remaining in the second quarter, Saints quarterback Andy Dalton found a wide-open Hill for a 30-yard touchdown.
Hill’s touchdown gave the Saints their first points of the game and a 7-3 lead.

It was the former BYU quarterback’s second touchdown reception of the 2022 season.

The catch capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive that took 4:44.
After the score, Hill had one reception for 30 yards and a touchdown. He also had one carry for one yard.
Hill’s score made him the only player in the Super Bowl era to have more than nine career touchdowns via passing, rushing, and receiving.

Entering the Week 13 game, Hill had five receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown this season. He’d also run the ball 58 times for 409 yards and five touchdowns through the first 12 weeks of the season.
Taysom Hill now has 9 career Rec TD in addition to 21 Rush TD and 9 Pass TD.

At halftime, the Saints owned a 10-3 lead. The Saints entered the contest with a 4-8 record this season.
New Orleans’ game against Tampa Bay is broadcast on ESPN and ESPN2.
About Taysom Hill
Prior to his NFL career, the Idaho native was a quarterback at BYU. Hill is in his sixth NFL season, all with the Saints.
This past offseason, the ex-Cougar signal-caller transitioned from quarterback to tight end.

Prior to Week 13, Hill had thrown for 2,140 yards, nine touchdowns, and eight interceptions with a 63.8 completion rate during his five seasons in the league. He also added 39 catches for 419 yards and eight touchdowns. As a runner, Hill entered the game with 279 career carries for 1,592 yards and 21 touchdowns.
