Mississippi State led most of the way while Utah kept things interesting despite 11 turnovers (eight of which happened in the first half). The Utes are now 4-2 on the 2022-2023 season and looking for answers to be better taking care of the basketball that have plagued them the past few games.
Utah Stats Leaders
Ben Carlson was a steady presence for the Utes Wednesday night in Florida cashing in 10 points and four rebounds on the night. Carlson was 4 of 6 shooting the ball.
Marco Anthony was also good for 10 points and eight rebounds for the Utes in his first start of the young season. Until two games ago, Anthony had been sitting out with injury. Anthony was named to the Ft. Meyers Tip-Off all-tournament team for his efforts on the court.
Rollie Worster led Utah in rebounds with nine while adding in an additional six points.
As a team, the Utes were great on defense holding a potent Mississippi State offense to just 52 points which is well below their 70.6 points per game average. The Utes were also solid off the glass reeling in 49 total rebounds.
Home, Sweet Home
The Runnin’ Utes have little time to dwell on their close miss against the Bulldogs and will be back in action at the Huntsman Center on Saturday, November 26. Tip-off is set for 6 pm MT and can be viewed on the Pac-12 Networks as Utah hosts St. Thomas in the teams’ first ever meeting.
