SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah women’s basketball team advanced to 6-0 on the season at the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship after clinching a nail-biter against Ole Miss. Guard Kennady McQueen hit two-free throws in the waning seconds of the game to put the Utes on top, 69-67 Wednesday evening. Utah has had a great week moving up to No. 17 in the latest AP Top 25 while also handling business against Alabama.

“What a game,” head coach Lynne Roberts said. “I am so proud of our team for finding a way to win. Ole Miss did a good job dictating the game’s tone with their defense and physicality. We didn’t shoot well, got outrebounded, and still just found a way. It’s been an incredible week for us here, and the past few games have really tested us and shown us what we’re good at and what we need to keep working on, but I love this team!”
Who Lead The Way For The Utah Women
Four Utes had a double-digit night with Alissa Pili being the top dog in points with 21. Jenna Johnson was next with 16 and McQueen and Gianna Kneepkens both added another 10 each.
Johnson was the highest rebounder collecting 10 off the boards against the Rebels along with her second double-double.
Looking at assists, three Utes were dominant in Wednesday’s affair with Ole Miss in Pili, Johnson and McQueen all notching three.
All together the Utes shot 46% from the floor. This is the sixth straight game Utah has shot above 45% from the floor in the early part of the season.
Individually, Pili was a cool 57% from the floor shooting while Johnson was hitting at 60% to end the night.
Up Next For The Utes
The Utes won’t return to the court until next Thursday, December 1st. Utah will be on the road once more, this time in Itta Bena, Mississippi to take on Mississippi Valley State in the Pac-12/SWAC Legacy Series. The ladies will tip-off at 4:30 pm MT with live stats available on UtahUtes.com.
