SALT LAKE CITY-ย All it takes is winning and it seems that is all Lynne Roberts and Utah Women’s basketball is doing these days. The Utes took on Southeastern Louisiana Sunday night at the Huntsman Center and put on another show with a 99-62 victory where the team shot 17 three-point shots. The performance caught the eye of AP voters who penciled the Utes in at No. 25 in the latest poll.

This is the first time since February 4, 2019, that the women have been ranked and is yet another big milestone for Roberts who recently took the Utes to the Pac-12 Championship and their first NCAA Tournament in 11 years last season. Roberts and crew hope to reach those heights again and appear to be well on their way to doing so.

Giana Kneepkens had a career night hitting five three-point shots and contributed 18 total points. Jenna Johnson, Kennady McQueen and Alissa Pili were also potent chipping in 20, 18 and 16 points as well.

McQueen was the team leader in rebounds with seven, while Inez Vieira had eight assists.

In their game on Friday against UVU, the Utes turned in a program record 30-forced turnovers on their way to a 97-27 victory.

Up Next

Utah women’s basketball will have a big test coming up on Wednesday as they prepare to host No. 15 Oklahoma at the Huntsman Center. Tipoff is set for 7 pm MT. The game will also be aired on the Pac-12 Networks with Krista Blunk and Mary Murphey on the call.

The game against the Sooners will be the last home game for the Utes before they head out on their first road trip of the season to pay the Alabama Crimson Tide a visit in Tuscaloosa on November 21.
