Jamaal Williams Lifts Lions To Win Over Bears

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU and current Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams helped push his team over the top for their first road win of the season in a matchup with the Chicago Bears.
The Bears hosted the Lions at Soldier Field on Sunday, November 13.
With 2:21 left in the fourth quarter, Williams burst through the offensive line for a one-yard score. Michael Badgley connected on the subsequent extra-point kick and the Lions took a 31-30 lead.
It was Williams’ ninth rushing touchdown of the season. The former BYU star entered Week 10 with 126 carries for 545 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground this season.

After the score, Williams had 13 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown.
On the next drive, the Lions forced the Bears to turn the ball over on downs.
Detroit was able to run the ball during the closing minute to seal a one-point win over its division rival. Williams finished the game with 16 rushes for 59 yards and a touchdown.

With the win, the Lions improved their record to 3-6 this season. It was Detroit’s first road win of 2022.
About Jamaal Williams
Before his time in the NFL, Williams was a star at BYU. He finished his time in Provo as the Cougars’ all-time leading rusher in both career and single-yard yards.
During his time at BYU (2012-14, 2016), Williams ran the ball 726 times for 3,901 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also had 60 receptions for 567 yards and a touchdown. Williams only lost two fumbles during his college career.
Following his time at BYU, the Southern California native was selected by the Green Bay Packers during the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played the first four seasons of his professional career with the Packers before signing with Lions in 2021.
