Southern Utah Basketball Crushes St. Katherine At Home

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah men’s basketball team picked up their second win of the season with a blowout 91-48 victory over St. Katherine.
Three Southern Utah players scored in double figures, led by Cameron Healy with 15 points, along with 12 points apiece from Tevian Jones and Martel Williams. SUU had 13 players appear in the game and 11 players scored.
The big lead started in the first half with Southern Utah outscoring St. Katherine 52-23 in the first half before dropping 39 points in the second half and holding St. Katherine to 25 points.
As a team, Southern Utah shot 32-63 (50.8%) from the field, 14-39 (35.9%) from the three-point line, and 13-24 (54.2%) from the free throw line. St. Katherine shot 18-56 (32.1%) from the floor, 7-25 (28%) from beyond the arc, and 5-10 (50%) from the free throw line.

SUU outrebounded St. Katherine 48-33, including 12-7 on the offensive glass.
A deeper look into the stats for Southern Utah had Cameron Healy scoring 15 points, along with four rebounds, and one assist, while shooting 6-for-10 from the field, and 3-of-7 from the three-point line.
Jason Spurgin had nine points and nine rebounds on 3-for-7 from the floor. Maizen Fausett chipped in eight points, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals on 1-of-4 shooting from the three-point line.
Three players scored seven points apiece, including Harrison Butler, Dee Barnes, and Parsa Fallah. Felix Lemetti chipped in six points, along with five points from Zion Young, and three points from Drake Allen.
Southern Utah improved its record to 2-1 on the season. They will return to the America First Event Center on Monday, November 14 to host Bethesda College at 7:00 p.m. MT on ESPN+. Then the Thunderbirds will head to Lawrence to take on the Kansas Jayhawks on Friday, November 18 at 6:00 p.m. MT on ESPN+. SUU will then go to Laie, Hawai’i to participate in the North Shore Classic against Texas State.
