Southern Utah Shuts Out Lincoln University (CA) At Home

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah Thunderbirds shut out Lincoln University (CA) 55-0 at home on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day in Cedar City.
Southern Utah QB Justin Miller was efficient throwing the football, completing 22 of his 25 passes for 208 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.
Braedon Wissler ran the ball 10 times for 88 yards, while Jayden Perkins added 63 rushing yards on 10 carries. Miller spread the ball around, connecting with eight different receivers.

The first score of the game came on a 17-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Aubrey Nellems to give SUU a 7-0 lead with 13:37 remaining in the first quarter. The Thunderbirds’ defense came up big again with Davin Wilson returning an interception 30 yards for a touchdown to put SUU ahead 13-0 with 12:24 left in the opening quarter.
SUU threw an interception on their first offensive possession but the Oaklanders turned the ball over on downs on the next drive. Miller connected with Brennon Hutchings for a 24-yard touchdown to give the Thunderbirds a 20-0 lead with 52 seconds left in the first quarter.
Later in the second quarter, Miller found Hutchings for a 10-yard touchdown to give SUU a 27-0 lead with 4:39 left in the first half. In the final minute of the second, Miller threw a two-yard TD pass to Tim Patrick Jr. to put Southern Utah up 34-0 with 42 seconds left until halftime.
On their first drive of the third quarter, Miller found Marcus Phillips Jr. for a 27-yard touchdown, giving Southern Utah a 41-0 lead with 12:31 left in the third quarter. In just two plays on the next possession, Tosh Wright ran in a 24-yard touchdown to extend SUU’s lead to 48-0 with 9:25 remaining in the third.
Later in the fourth quarter, Jackson Berry found the end zone from 15 yards out to give SUU a 55-0 lead with 1:52 remaining in the game.
SUU improved their record to 4-6 overall to go with their 1-3 conference record. They will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, November 19 at Sam Houston State. The game will begin at 11:00 a.m. MT on ESPN+
