Trey Woodbury Leads Utah Valley To Win Over Northern Arizona

SALT LAKE CITY – Trey Woodbury led the Utah Valley men’s basketball team to its second win of the season with a 22-point outing against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.
The Wolverines hosted the Lumberjacks at UCCU Center on Saturday, November 12.
UVU beat NAU, 73-69.

During the first 31 minutes of action, it appeared like a runaway victory for the Wolverines, who never trailed in the contest. Utah Valley opened the afternoon with a Woodbury layup during the opening minute of action. The Wolverines continued to build their lead over the following 19 minutes and took a 12-point lead into the locker room at halftime.
After the break, UVU’s lead was cut into by Northern Arizona. The Lumberbacks battled back from down double-digits to tie the game at 54-54 with 8:53 left to play. It ended up being the only tie of the contest and the closest the Lumberjacks would come to the Wolverines. UVU fought to regain the lead and sealed the win with four three throws made during the final 32 seconds of game time.
Utah Valley ended the afternoon shooting 48.1 percent overall and 43.5 percent on three-pointers. NAU was held to only 37.3 percent from the field, including 39.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Despite losing the rebounding battle, the Wolverines used their size to block nine shots during the game. Three Wolverines finished scoring in double figures. Woodbury led UVU with 22 points on 7-13 shooting, including 4-6 from downtown. He added six assists and a block.

Le’Tre Darthard and Aziz Bandaogo each added 13 points.
Liam Lloyd and Jack Wistrcill led the Lumberjacks with 14 points apiece.
With the win, the Wolverines improved their record to 2-1 this season, including 2-0 at home.
Utah Valley’s next game is on the road against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Tuesday, November 15 at 5 p.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network and ESPN+.
