BYU Soccer Advances To Second Round Of Women’s NCAA Tournament

PROVO, Utah – BYU soccer is moving on in the 2022 Women’s NCAA Tournament. The Cougars got some revenge against Utah Valley by taking down the Wolverines 3-0.
In front of a crowd of 3,839 fans at BYU’s historic South Field, BYU pulled away in the second half from the rival Wolverines.

The scoring started before the halftime break when BYU’s Allie Fryer scored a goal in the 39th minute. BYU went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
UVU had a pair of yellow card unsporting penalties for Jenna Shepherd and Julianna Carter in the 50th and 58th minutes. Then BYU began to pull away off a goal from Tara Warner off an assist from Jamie Shepherd and Bella Folino.

BYU put the final scoring touch on their NCAA Tournament win in the 79th minute when Rachel McCarthy closed it out with a 3-0 lead.
Next up for BYU soccer is a second-round matchup against No. 3 Stanford in Palo Alto. The Cougars’ record is now 11-2-6 on the year. Utah Valley closes the season with a 14-5-3 record and a regular season WAC Championship.
