SALT LAKE CITY – The Skyridge Falcons advanced to the 6A championship game with a big victory over the Bingham Miners on Game Night Live.

The Falcons and Miners played at Rice-Eccles Stadium, home of the University of Utah’s football program, on Thursday, November 10.

Skyridge beat Bingham, 45-20.

First Half

The first score of the game came late in the first half when Skyridge standout cornerback Smith Snowden returned an interception for a 95-yard touchdown to give the Falcons a 7-0 lead with 3:35 remaining in the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, the Falcons extended their lead to 14-0 with 8:57 to play in the first half on a one-yard touchdown run by Tate Walker.

The game was starting to look like a rout with a 45-yard touchdown catch by La’akea Kalama, who had to break multiple tackles before finding the end zone. Skyridge extended their lead to 21-0 with 3:43 remaining in the first half.

Rather than kicking a field goal, Bingham elected to try for a touchdown on the last play of the first half and it worked as Dallen Martinez connected with Carson Sudbury on a two-yard TD. At the half, Skyridge held a 21-7 lead.

Second Half

Coming out of the break, McCae Hillstead threw a nice touchdown pass to Jace Doman to give the Falcons a 28-7 lead with 9:36 remaining in the third.

The Miners answered with a long touchdown pass by Dallen Martinez to a wide-open Carson Sudbury to trim the deficit to 28-14 with 9:10 remaining in the third quarter.

Tate Walker found the end zone for the second time in the game to extend Skyridge’s lead to 35-14 with 6:17 left in the third.

Bingham responded with a nice drive that included a fourth-down conversion and ended with a Carson Sudbury touchdown, his second of the day. Skyridge had a 35-20 lead with 11:14 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Skyridge will advance to the 6A Championship and will face No. 1 Corner Canyon on Friday, November 18 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The game will kickoff at 11:00 a.m. MT on KSLSports.com.
