SALT LAKE CITY – Tony Finau, a father of five, has given his best parenting advice to new fathers.
Tony Finau Parenting Advice
Following a successful Presidents Cup campaign in which Finau partnered and won both foursome matches alongside Max Homa, Finau was asked what advice he would give Homa following the birth of his first child last weekend.
“The best parenting advice I have is just take care of your wife, that’s it,” Finau said. “The wife is the one that runs the home, and women run the world. My mom and my wife are two of the strongest people that I know, probably the two strongest people that I know. The best advice I have for any husband is take care of your wife. If Max does that, the family and the kids will be just fine.”

Finau With High Expectations At Mayakoba
Finau made the comment during his press conference ahead of the Mayakoba Golf Classic, his first PGA Tour event of the 2022/23 season.
“It’s not a long golf course, but as my driving has improved, it has become a golf course that I’ve think played better and has looked better to me,” Finau said. “So I’m looking forward to driving it well this week hopefully and scoring well.”
Finau has played the Mayakoba Golf Classic 6 times and has finished inside the top 10 on 2 occasions. Most recently, Finau concluded the 2022 event in a share of 45th while in 2021 finished in a tie for 8th.
Finau has not appeared in a competitive tournament since the Presidents Cup which concluded on September 25. Following the Presidents Cup, he took a break from the game to spend time with his family and only picked up a club 12 days ago to begin preparations for his 2022/23 PGA Tour campaign.
2023 Ryder Cup On Finau’s Radar
As a result, Finau has not spent any time detailing his goals for the upcoming season. He plans to do that prior to teeing it up on Thursday in Mexico. However, when asked what his goals were, Finau immediately responded to the question mentioning that the 2023 Ryder Cup which will be hosted in Rome is certainly on his bucket list this season.
“I know for sure right off the top of my head, being on that Ryder Cup team in Rome is going to be a goal of mine,” Finau said. “It’s something that I think a lot of guys want to be a part of, and I’m included in that. I would love to be a part of that team in Rome, so I think right out of the gate I know that’s something that will be one of my goals.”
Finau has been a member of the two previous USA Ryder Cup teams.
