SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz dominated the Memphis Grizzlies in the second and third quarters, completing a two-game sweep over last year’s Western Conference two-seed.

Lauri Markkanen had his best game in a Jazz uniform scoring 31 points and adding 12 rebounds in the 121-105 win.

With the victory, the Jazz moved to 6-2 on the season.

First Quarter

After missing Saturday’s game Ja Morant got off to a hot start scoring 11 points in the first quarter.

Collin Sexton led the Jazz with six points, specifically targeting Morant in his first two possessions on the floor.

At times the Jazz got caught overpassing leading to four first quarter turnovers.

After one, the Jazz trailed the Grizzlies 26-23.

Second Quarter

The Jazz opened the quarter on a 16-7 run to build a 39-33 lead midway through the second quarter.

Memphis struggled to score against the Jazz swarming paint on defense and knocked down just two of their first nine attempts from the free-throw line.

The Jazz outscored the Grizzlies 38-18 in the frame thanks to active hands in the passing lanes, while knocking down 7-12 from the three-point line.

At the half, the Jazz led Memphis 61-44.

Third Quarter

The Grizzlies opened the third quarter by bullying the Jazz and trimmed their deficit to just 10 at 67-57.

But Lauri Markkanen and the Jazz answered with a 19-6 run over the next five minutes to build an 86-65 lead.

After 36 minutes Markkanen had 28 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.

Through three the Jazz led Memphis 97-74.

Fourth Quarter

The Jazz were able to fend off any late Grizzlies pushes early in the fourth quarter and Taylor Jenkins pulled his starters midway through the period.

Markkanen finished with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and a career-high four blocks in the win.

The Jazz moved to 6-2 with the two-game sweep over the Grizzlies.
