SALT LAKE CITY – The Liberty Football program found victory over the BYU Cougars in a contest that the Flames called “a game 50 years in the making.”

Liberty torches BYU

The Flames hosted the Cougars at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia on Saturday, October 22.

Liberty blew out BYU, 41-14.

It was the Cougars’ third straight loss and fourth of the season.

Social Media Reacts To Flames’ Win Over Cougars

After the loss, the programs, fans, and others shared their reactions to the game on social media.

For more on BYU’s loss to Liberty, check out BYU insider Mitch Harper’s Instant Takeaways:

“A team once ranked as high as No. 12 in the AP Top 25 is now in a spot where they will fight for bowl eligibility. Unfortunately, there is no game outside of Utah Tech that you can assume BYU will win at this point.

Puka Nacua was vocal in the postgame locker room to rally the team, but it feels like the season is done for BYU. Whether they win six games or eight, they are going to a bowl game that won’t hold much significance. So what gets BYU to rally the troops and get the season back on track? Right now, it feels like the season can’t get any lower, as it’s a rock bottom moment for a BYU squad that had lofty expectations coming into the season.” – Mitch Harper
