SALT LAKE CITY – BYU’s Chaz Ah You is returning to the football field.
The 6-foot-2, 222-pound Ah You will make his debut in the 2022 season on Saturday against the Liberty Flames. BYUtv pregame was the first to report the news on Saturday. It was reported that Ah You is expected to appear in 25 snaps against the Flames.

Ah You was seen at practice during Notre Dame week. He has been a participant in practice for the past few weeks.
Chaz Ah You hasn’t appeared in a game since 2021
A former four-star recruit from Timpview High School in the class of 2017, Ah You hasn’t participated in a game since the win at Washington State nearly one year ago to the day, October 23, 2021.
On a week when BYU’s defense is expected to have significant changes from coaching assignments to personnel, Ah You steps in at a time to reestablish himself within BYU’s depth chart for the remainder of the season.
Last season, Ah You was a star safety for BYU until he was suddenly switched to linebacker. Then he suffered a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year.
He recorded 39 tackles last year in eight games and had one interception against rival Utah.
Ah You comes in this week at a time when the linebacker unit is down one of their top players in, Payton Wilgar, who suffered an injury against Arkansas.
Ah You is listed as a senior on BYU’s official roster. But he has a redshirt season available if he only appears in four games this season.
