Although the final scoreboard showed a one-possession game, the outcome wasn’t that close. The Cardinals dominated much of the contest and the Saints scored 17 of their total points during the final quarter of action.
Arizona found itself down 7-3 after the first quarter thanks to a touchdown by former Weber State and current Saints receiver Rashid Shaheed. It was Shaheed’s second career touchdown and came on his second career touch.

In the second quarter, the Cardinals turned the game in their favor by forcing three turnovers by the Saints, all interceptions thrown by Andy Dalton.
The first turnover led to a field goal by Arizona to make 7-6 New Orleans. After both teams added touchdowns to the board, New Orleans’ came on a catch by former BYU star Taysom Hill, the Cardinals recorded back-to-back pick-sixes of Dalton to end the first half. The two interceptions for scores stretch Arizona’s lead to 28-14 and gave the Cardinals a 25-point second quarter.

In the third quarter, the Cardinals added another touchdown on a strike from Kyler Murray to Greg Dortch to make it 35-17 game.
New Orleans outscored Arizona by 10 points over the final quarter, but the turnovers and early deficit were too much to overcome. The Saints were unable to recover a pair of onside kicks late in the game and the Cardinals captured their third win of the season.
Dalton finished the game 30/47 passing for 361 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. Rookie Chris Olave led the Saints with seven catches for 106 yards and a touchdown.
Murray was 20/29 passing for 204 yards and a touchdown. In his first game this season, DeAndre Hopkins pulled in 10 receptions for 103 yards.
