Taysom Hill Hauls In First TD Catch As Saints’ Tight End

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU and current New Orleans Saints star Taysom Hill snagged his first touchdown reception since officially switching positions from quarterback to tight end.
The Cardinals hosted the Saints at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Thursday, October 20.
With 10:29 left in the first half, Saints quarterback Andy Dalton found Hill near the goal line for a three-yard touchdown. It was Hill’s first touchdown catch since the 2020 season and his first as a tight end for the Saints.
Hill’s reception gave New Orleans a 14-6 lead over the home team. It was Hill’s seventh touchdown scored this season. During New Orleans’ Week 6 win over the Seattle Seahawks, the former BYU standout had four touchdowns.

The score capped a five-play, 75-yard drive that took 2:46.
After the catch, Hill had one reception for three yards and a touchdown, two carries for six yards, and was 1/1 passing for seven yards.
Hill entered the game with one catch for two yards in five games this season.
In addition to his reception, Hill came into Week 7 having thrown for 38 yards and a touchdown on 3/5 passing. During the first six weeks of the season, the former BYU star also had 26 carries for 267 yards and five touchdowns.

Per StatMuse, Hill joined fellow former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson (now with the New York Jets) as the only NFL players to record touchdowns this season via passing, rushing, and receiving.

About Taysom Hill
Prior to his NFL career, the Idaho native was a quarterback at BYU. Hill is in his sixth NFL season, all with the Saints.
This past offseason, the ex-Cougar signal-caller transitioned from quarterback to tight end.
Prior to Week 7, Hill had thrown for 2,063 yards, nine touchdowns, and eight interceptions with a 64.1 completion rate during his five seasons in the league. He also added 35 catches for 390 yards and seven touchdowns. As a runner, Hill entered the game with 247 career carries for 1,450 yards and 21 touchdowns.
