The talented tight end who had the game of his life last weekend against USC (16 catches for 234 yards and a touchdown) admitted he got a little banged up and the rest will be put to good use. Kincaid made a key catch in Utah’s last drive of the game to help set up quarterback Cam Rising’s go-ahead 2-point conversion, but he did come up a little slow. Kincaid ultimately returned to the game but admits he may have hyperextended his knee a bit.
“Definitely a good week for a BYE week,” Kincaid said. “I’m sitting in the training room right now getting some treatment. Going to invest a lot of time on the body this week and just look forward to the rest of the season.”
The Final Drive
Kincaid credits the fans for making the final game-winning drive possible by bringing energy the team could feed off of. With 4:33 left in the game, quarterback Cam Rising took the Utes on a masterful drive with the help of Kincaid that consisted of 11 plays and 90 yards to get to the USC goal line. After a touchdown run, Rising found open space again and put the Utes ahead with a 2-point conversion with just 48 seconds left in the game.
“I think it’s different playing at home too,” Kincaid said. “For us, knowing the kind of advantage we have, having all those guys there and the support we have from the fans is just awesome. I mean, you saw [USC] had multiple false starts due to how loud it was and we just kind of feed off that energy that they bring.”
