The East West Shrine Bowl named Rising their Offensive Player of the Week early Monday morning. Later in the afternoon, both the Davey O’Brien Quarterback Award, and the Manning Award recognized Rising as one of their Week 7 stars.
A Closer Look At Rising’s USC Performance
Unfortunately, earlier in the year Rising came up just short of a victory against Florida to open the season on a last-ditch effort goal line drive to try and secure the win for Utah. Rising was put in a very similar situation last Saturday and got the job done.
With 4:33 left in the game, Rising took the Utes on a masterful drive that consisted of 11 plays and 90 yards to get to the USC goal line. At the goal line, Rising took the ball out of the shotgun for a one yard rush up the middle and the touchdown. Still down a point, the Utes opted to go for the 2-point conversion and the win, rather than the PAT and tie.
Once again with the ball in his hands, Rising found open space and put the Utes ahead with just 48 seconds left in the game.

Aside from icing the win for his team at the end, Rising was great stat-wise as well. He completed 29 of 43 passing for 415 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Rising was also deadly on the ground recording 11 touches for 60 yards and three touchdowns.
The man catching most of those passes? Tight end Dalton Kincaid who was 16 of 16 for 234 yards and a touchdown. Kincaid has also been getting high praise for his record setting day having earned recognition from the Reese’s Senior Bowl as their Offensive Player of the Game.
