Utah Football Dedicated Game To Fallen Brothers, Gives Game Ball To Their Families

SALT LAKE CITY- It’s often said that football is more than a game and Saturday’s contest between USC and Utah is proof of that. Utah football revealed in their post-game press conference that internally they dedicated their game to their fallen brothers, Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe, and gave the game ball to their families after they secured a 43-42 victory.

The game already carried significance for the team as they chose to remember Jordan and Lowe with their annual hand painted helmets that featured portraits of the players along with the “22 Forever” logo created for them last season. Jordan’s aunt, Takka, and Lowe’s mother, Donna were presented with their own helmets between the first and second quarters of the game to a standing ovation from the crowd.
Not A Dry Eye In The House
The football Twitter account posted a sweet video of the game ball presentation in the locker room between the team and Jordan and Lowe’s families. Running back Ja’Quinden Jackson– the second recipient of the Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe Memorial Scholarship- was asked by head coach Kyle Whittingham to present the families their game balls and say a few words on behalf of the team. Jackson was best friends with both Jordan and Lowe having grown up in the same Dallas suburb.

Jordan and Lowe tragically passed away within nine months of each other last year. Lowe’s death came in the middle of Utah’s season, and ultimately seemed to serve as a catalyst for the team to earn their first Pac-12 Championship and Rose Bowl appearance.
Throughout the journey, the Utes made sure to keep both Jordan and Lowe close and involved with everything they do from the “Moment of Loudness” between the third and fourth quarters and having game day lockers prepared. Jordan and Lowe’s families have also been included in everything from a number retirement, to being an honorary team captain at the Conference Championship Game.
