Taron Johnson Seals Bills’ Win With Late Interception Of Patrick Mahomes

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Weber State standout Taron Johnson sealed a win for the Buffalo Bills after intercepting Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs hosted the Bills at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, October 16.
With With 56 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the Bills leading the game, 24-20, Mahomes attempted to move the ball down the field on pass to Skye Moore. Johnson jumped the route and snagged the pigskin for a game-sealing interception.
The pick was the fourth of Johnson’s NFL career and his first of the 2022 campaign.

Buffalo took over at the Kansas City 30-yard line and ran the clock out on three plays to hold on for a four-point victory over the team that eliminated the Bills from the postseason a season ago.
Johnson finished the game with six total tackles, four solo tackles, one pass breakup, and an interception. Mahomes threw two picks in the contest and ended with 338 yards and and two two touchdowns on 25/30 passing.
With the win, the Bills improved their record to 5-1 this season, including 3-1 on the road.
Buffalo’s next game is at home against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, October 30 at 6:20 p.m. (MDT) on KSL 5 TV.

About Taron Johnson
Before his time in the NFL, Johnson played at Weber State from 2014-17.
While at Weber State, the Sacramento, California native recorded 172 total tackles, 123 solo tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, six interceptions, 48 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 47 games.
After his time with the Wildcats, the Bills selected Johnson during the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
In 2021, the cornerback signed a multi-year contract extension with Buffalo.
This season, Johnson has recorded 35 total tackles, 24 solo tackles, one fumble recovery, two pass breakups, and an interception.
