Weber State Cruises Past Portland State In Jay Hill’s 100th Game

SALT LAKE CITY – Jay Hill earned a victory in his 100th game at Weber State as the Wildcats stayed perfect this season thanks to a blowout victory over the Portland State Vikings.
The Vikings hosted the Wildcats at Hillsboro Stadium in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, October 15.
Weber State defeated Portland State, 42-7.

It was all Wildcats until the Vikings found their way onto the scoreboard midway through the final quarter. At that point, Weber State owned a 35-7 lead and cruised to the big win.
Weber State got things started on a touchdown pass from Bronson Barron to Haze Hadley less than four minutes into the contest. With 6:11 left in the opening quarter, Damon Bankston ran for a 23-yard touchdown to make it 14-0 Wildcats. Midway through the second quarter, Dontae McMillan sprinted for 15 yards and six points to give Weber State a 21-0 lead at the halftime break.
Barron got the Wildcats’ second half scoring started on a 55-yard strike to Jacob Sharp with 11:49 remaining in the third quarter.

A little more than eight minutes later, Barron connected with Hayden Meacham for two yards and another six points to put Weber State up 35-0.
After Portland State’s late touchdown, Steven Shoats-Thomas ran for a touchdown to cap Weber State’s scoring with 1:54 left to play.
Weber State had 553 yards to only 236 yards by Portland State.

Bronson finished the game 21/31 passing for 274 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Sharp led Weber State’s receivers with two catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. McMillan was the Wildcats’ leading rusher with nine carries for 81 yard and a touchdown.
Vikings quarterback Dante Chachere finished the contest 18/29 passing for 167 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
With the win, the Wildcats improved to 6-0 this season, including 3-0 in Big Sky Conference action.

Weber State’s next game is on the road against the Montana State Bobcats on Saturday, October 22 at 1 p.m. (MDT). The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
