Markkanen Scores 21 As Jazz Fall To Mavericks

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz wrapped up the preseason with a 115-101 loss to the Dallas Mavericks despite a strong 21 point outing from Lauri Markkanen.
Three players missed the game for the Jazz with Malik Beasley (ankle), Udoka Azubuike (ankle), and Simone Fontecchio (quad) all dealing with injuries.
The Jazz fell to 1-3 in the preseason with the loss to the Mavericks.
First Quarter
With Mike Conley back in the lineup after resting on Tuesday against San Antonio, the Jazz offense ran much smoother.
Both Jordan Clarkson and Rudy Gay scored 5 points in the first quarter to lead the Jazz while Luka Doncic scored 12 for the Mavericks.

After one the Jazz trailed the Mavericks 27-26.
Second Quarter
Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz in the second quarter allowing them to keep pace with the Mavericks in the first half.
Both Markkanen and Gay had nine points at the half while Doncic added five second quarter points to lead all scorers with 17 at the break.

Will Hardy switched up his rotation in game four of the preseason using rookie Ochai Agbaji in the second quarter rather than Jared Butler who played well on Tuesday.
At the half the Mavericks led the Jazz 54-53.
Third Quarter
Markkanen had 19 points and nine rebounds on 8-12 shooting through 36 minutes as he continued to be a force on the offensive end.
Conley meanwhile looked comfortable controlling the Jazz’s pace.

After three the Jazz trailed the Mavericks 82-79 behind Doncic’s impressive 24 point, three rebound, five assist night.
Fourth Quarter
The Mavericks opened the fourth quarter on a 12-0 run to blow the game open as the Jazz struggled to find offense late.
Walker Kessler began his impose his will on the smaller Mavericks lineups late in the fourth quarter running the floor, finishing at the rim, and knocking down his free throws.
The Jazz ultimately fell to 1-3 in the preseason with a 115-101 loss to the Mavericks.
