Hill has coached for nine seasons at Weber State and made the team into one of the fiercest FCS teams in the country. Hill has had one losing season at Weber State, his first in which the program went 2-10. Since then nothing but winning records.
The best season of Hill’s tenure came in 2019 as the team went 11-4 and reached the FCS semi-finals. This year looks as if it could unseat that great year though as the Wildcats are off to a magnificent 5-0 start.
It is easy to make the case that Hill is the best coach the Wildcats have ever had. Only Sark Arslanian of the 1965 era of Wildcat football challenges Hill’s impressive winning percentage.
“That’s amazing I didn’t know that,” said Hill

At this point in his career, Hill practically is Weber State football. The program and culture he has created is one of success and accountability. The program is clearly thankful for his service and sacrifice that makes Weber State one of the best FCS teams in the country.
Weber State Portland State Preview
Weber State is the number one defense in FCS according to Pro Football Focus. The program clocks in with a 94 grade, a truly impressive feat.
The defense is led by leading tacklers linebackers, Winston Reid and Garrett Black both of whom have over thirty tackles in just five games played thus far.
The defense also has nine sacks, that is an extremely impressive number seeing as BYU, a far more funded and prestigious FBS program only has 9 sacks on the year as well.
Meanwhile, Portland State is struggling coming in at just 2-3 on the season. The Wildcat defense should be able to hold Portland State at bay and grab yet another win.
Weber State and Portland State will kickoff at 3:00 p.m. MT on Saturday, October 15 in Hillsboro, Oregon. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and 103.1 FM “The Wave.”
