BYU Football Unveils New Custom Helmet For Arkansas Game

PROVO, Utah – BYU football has rolled out a new helmet for the second consecutive week.
BYU announced a custom royal blue helmet on Monday with an oval Y logo on the right side with the Wasatch front mountain range underneath. Then on the other side of the helmet features a portrait of an actual Cougar.

The other noteworthy addition to the custom helmet is white facemasks. Along with the white facemask, BYU will wear white uniforms with white pants featuring royal blue stripes and numbers.
BYU has never had white facemasks as a primary look on their helmets. In the 1980s, royal blue was the facemask color, but some players, including Steve Young, had helmets that featured a white facemask early in his BYU career.
The Cougar design that BYU chose for the helmet is an image used in BYU’s Athletic Department in recent years. On floor three at the BYU Student Athlete Building, there is a giant mural of that Cougar painted on the wall before entering the athletic department offices.

BYU will host the Arkansas Razorbacks this Saturday in Provo. It’s only the second SEC program to play at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The other was Mississippi State in 2000 and 2016.
BYU versus Arkansas kicks off at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN and KSL NewsRadio.
