Saints TE Taysom Hill Tosses TD Pass For Third Score Against Seahawks

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU quarterback and current New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill threw his first touchdown pass of the season for his third touchdown during a game against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Saints hosted the Seahawks at Caesars Superdome on Sunday, October 9.
With 36 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Hill lined up at quarterback, and unlike two plays earlier in the game where he ran a direct snap in for a score, the former BYU star connected with fellow Saints tight end Adam Trautman in the end zone for a 22-yard score. It was Hill’s first passing touchdown this season and his third touchdown during the Week 5 game.
The Hill-Trautman connection gave the Saints a 31-19 lead.

Hill’s pass capped a four-play, 79-yard drive that lasted 2:10.
After his pass, Hill was 1/1 passing for 22 yards and a touchdown. As a runner, he recorded seven carries for 51 yards and two touchdowns.
The former BYU’s stars first two scores of the game came during the first half. With 10:54 remaining in the first half, Hill took a direct snap and ran up the middle for eight yards and his first touchdown.

The touchdown and subsequent PAT tied the game at 10-10.
Three drives later, the Seahawks fumbled the ball on a punt and Hill recovered the ball at the Seattle 13-yard line. After a run by Alvin Kamara, Hill took another direct snap and ran the ball nine yards into the end zone for another score. Hill’s second touchdown run gave New Orleans a 17-10 lead.
He entered the game with 12 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns this season. It was the former BYU star’s fourth game of the season. He missed New Orleans’ Week 3 game due to injury and returned in Week 4.
Hill entered the Seahawks game having rushed for 1,299 yards and 18 touchdowns on 233 carries during his NFL career.
Prior to his NFL career, the Idaho native was a quarterback at BYU. Hill is in his sixth NFL season, all with the Saints.
This past offseason, the ex-Cougar signal-caller transitioned from quarterback to tight end.

As a passer in the league, Hill has thrown for 2,025 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions with a 64.2 percent completion rate. He’s also recorded 35 receptions for 390 yards and seven touchdowns as a receiver/tight end. Hill has played 66 games for the Saints.
The Saints entered the Week 5 matchup against Seattle with a 1-3 record, including 0-2 at home. New Orleans won its season opener before dropping three straight contests. The Seahawks are 2-2 to begin the 2022 season.
