SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU quarterback and current New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill ran for a pair of touchdowns and recovered a fumble by the Seattle Seahawks in a span of a few minutes.

The Saints hosted the Seahawks at Caesars Superdome on Sunday, October 9.

With 10:54 remaining in the first half, Hill took a direct snap and ran up the middle for eight yards and six points.

The touchdown and subsequent PAT tied the game at 10-10. Hill’s run capped a 10-play, 69-yard drive that took 5:19. After the score, Hill had four carries for 30 yards and a touchdown.

Three drives later, the Seahawks fumbled the ball on a punt and Hill recovered the ball at the Seattle 13-yard line. After a run by Alvin Kamara, Hill took another direct snap and ran the ball nine yards into the end zone for another score.

Hill’s second touchdown run gave New Orleans a 17-10 lead.

It was Hill’s fifth touchdown run of the season. After his second score, Hill had five carries for 39 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The scores were his 34th and 35th career touchdowns.

He entered the game with 12 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns this season. It was the former BYU star’s fourth game of the season. He missed New Orleans’ Week 3 game due to injury and returned in Week 4.

Hill entered the Seahawks game having rushed for 1,299 yards and 18 touchdowns on 233 carries during his NFL career.

Prior to his NFL career, the Idaho native was a quarterback at BYU. Hill is in his sixth NFL season, all with the Saints.

This past offseason, the ex-Cougar signal-caller transitioned from quarterback to tight end. As a passer in the league, Hill has thrown for 2,025 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions with a 64.2 percent completion rate. He’s also recorded 35 receptions for 390 yards and seven touchdowns as a receiver/tight end. Hill has played 66 games for the Saints.

The Saints entered the Week 5 matchup against Seattle with a 1-3 record, including 0-2 at home. New Orleans won its season opener before dropping three straight contests. The Seahawks are 2-2 to begin the 2022 season.

New Orleans’ game against Seattle is televised on FOX.
